SAINTS ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT HOSTS ANNUAL AWARDS NIGHT

The Emmanuel College Athletic Department hosted its Annual Awards Night and Dessert Reception last weekend, celebrating the Saints success during the 2012-2013 athletic seasons. Student-athletes, coaches, supportive families and fans filled the gymnasium of Emmanuel's Jean Yawkey Center on Saturday evening, April 27th, for the annual athletic recognition night. The event featured award presentations by the head coaches of each of Emmanuel's varsity programs and spirit teams, as well as major award presentations by Saints staff and administrators. Emmanuel's food service division, Bon Appetit, provided a delectable buffet of dessert selections for all of the attendees.

2012 MEN'S SOCCER SEASON IN REVIEW

After the program’s best season ever in 2011, the Emmanuel College men’s soccer team had high hopes for the 2012 campaign but due to several key injuries and a more competitive out of conference schedule, the Saints finished the year at a disappointing 4-12-2 with a 3-7 record in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.

SHIRLEY NAMED TO GNAC MEN’S SOCCER ALL-CONFERENCE SQUAD

Senior forward Kevin Shirley (Madison, Conn.) has been named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men’s Soccer Third Team All-Conference squad, it was announced earlier today by the conference office.

EMMANUEL FALLS TO WHEATON IN SEASON FINALE

NORTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel Men’s Soccer Team wrapped up the 2012 season with a non-conference loss to Wheaton College on Wednesday afternoon. The host Lyons used a five-goal first half to top the visiting Saints, 7-1. The win boosted Wheaton to 9-6-4, while the Saints end the season at 4-12-2.

MEN'S SOCCER DOWNED BY ALBERTUS MAGNUS, 3-1

The Albertus Magnus men’s soccer team used three first-half goals to defeat Emmanuel College 3-1 on Saturday afternoon in their final regular-season contest of 2012.

SAINTS NIPPED BY CLARK IN DOUBLE O.T.

Host Clark University got the game-winning goal from junior Kenny Vera (Franklin Square, N.Y.) in the 106th minute and the Cougars survived a physical non-conference matchup with Emmanuel College in non-league men’s soccer action on Wednesday evening.

SAINTS SHUTOUT AMCATS ON SENIOR DAY

BOSTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel College Men’s Soccer Team scored three goals in the second half and topped Anna Maria College, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon. The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) game was played on Roberto Clemente Field, as the Saints moved to 4-9-2 overall and 3-6 in GNAC play, while the AMcats fell to 2-11 on the year and 0-8-1 in the league.

CURRY SLIPS PAST EMMANUEL, 2-1

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College Men's Soccer Team defeated visiting Emmanuel College, 2-1, on Wednesday evening in non-conference action. With the win, the Colonels improve to 9-5 overall. The Saints fell to 3-9-2 overall.

MEN'S SOCCER DROPS 3-1 DECISION TO MOUNT IDA

Mount Ida College junior midfielder/forward Steven MacDonald (Medford, MA/Arlington Catholic) scored two goals in a 3-1 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory against visiting Emmanuel College on Columbus Day Monday afternoon in Newton, Massachusetts at Alumni Field.

EMERSON EDGES EMMANUEL, 2-0

BOSTON, Mass - The Emmanuel College Saints suffered a 2-0 loss to the cross-town Lions of Emerson College in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men's soccer rivalry played on Roberto Clemente Field on Saturday afternoon. With their second-straight GNAC loss, the Saints fell to 3-7-2 on the season and 2-5 in league play. Emerson improved to 4-7 overall and 2-4 in the GNAC. These two teams last met in the quarterfinals of the 2011 GNAC Tournament, when the Saints upset the Lions, 3-2.

CADETS SHUTOUT SAINTS, 2-0

BOSTON, Mass. - The Emmanuel College Men's Soccer Team dropped a 2-0 decision to the visiting Cadets of Norwich University on Wednesday night in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action played at Roberto Clemente Field. With the conference win, Norwich improves to 7-3-1 overall and 4-1-1 in GNAC play, stretching their unbeaten streak to four games. Emmanuel drops to 3-6-2 on the season and 2-4-0 in the league with the loss.

MEN'S SOCCER BATTLES BACK TO TOP ST. JOE'S, 3-2

SCARBOROUGH, Me. - The Emmanuel Men's Soccer Team (3-5-2, 2-3-0 GNAC) battled back from a 2-1 deficit to top Saint Joseph’s College (4-5-2, 2-3-1 GNAC), 3-2, in a GNAC men’s soccer game. The rematch of last year’s GNAC semifinal contest was played under the lights at the Kippy Mitchell Sports Complex on Sunday evening.

SAINTS END SKID WITH 4-1 WIN OVER RAIDERS

BOSTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel College Men’s Soccer Team earned a much-needed victory on Tuesday night, defeating the Raiders of Rivier University, 4-1. The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) game was played under the lights on Roberto Clemente Field and the win was the first for the Saints since Emmanuel’s opening game of the year. The Saints improved to 2-5-2 overall and 1-3 in the league, while Rivier dropped to 0-6-1 on the season and 0-3-1 in GNAC play with the loss.

MIT EASES PAST SAINTS IN SATURDAY MEN’S SOCCER ACTION

BOSTON, Mass. – MIT rolled to a 7-1 win over the Emmanuel College Saints in non-conference Men’s Soccer action played at Roberto Clemente Field on Saturday afternoon. MIT remained perfect in the match-up between these two programs, with the Engineers taking their 5th win in five meetings. With the loss, Emmanuel extends its slide to four games and falls to 1-5-2 on the season. MIT moves to 6-2 with the win.

LATE SCORING FLURRY PROPELS RAMS PAST SAINTS

SOMERVILLE, Mass. - Suffolk University scored a flurry of goals in the final four minutes of regulation to top the Emmanuel College Saints in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men’s soccer action on Wednesday evening. The win boosts the Rams to 5-3 overall and 2-2 in GNAC play. The Saints, who are on a three-game slide, drop to 1-4-2 on the season and 0-3 in the league.

Sophomore Ray Durski (Monroe, N.J.) scored a pair of goals and added an assist to lead the Johnson & Wales University men’s soccer team to a 3-1 victory against Emmanuel in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest at Pierce Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
