2013 GNAC CHAMPIONS HIT HIGH MARKS IN THE CLASSROOM TOO

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Emmanuel College Saints are among the 215 women’s cross country programs and 146 men’s teams to earned United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team honors. In order to be recognized by the national organization as an All-Academic Team, all athletes on each team must combine for at least a 3.1 cumulative grade point average.

2013 MEN’S AND WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY SEASON IN REVIEW

BOSTON, Mass. – The 2013 Cross Country season was a record-setting one at Emmanuel College. Both, the men’s and women’s teams took home the College’s first-ever Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Cross Country Championships. The men’s cross country title was also the Emmanuel’s first-ever men’s conference championship in any sport since the College went co-ed in 2001. The two cross country championships in the Fall of 2013 also marked the first time that Emmanuel earned more than one championship in single season.

PERSONAL RECORDS ACROSS THE BOARD FOR SAINTS AT NCAA CROSS COUNTRY REGIONALS

HAM, Me. – The Emmanuel College Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Teams wrapped up the 2013 season with incredible performances across the board in the NCAA Division III Regionals on Saturday. The meet was hosted by the University of Southern Maine and featured a 6k race for the women and an 8k race for the men.

SAINTS POST STRONG SHOWING AT ECAC CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS

BRISTOL, R.I. – Emmanuel College was represented by 10 student athletes, who competed in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Cross Country Championships on Saturday morning. The Emmanuel men ran seven athletes, with four turning in personal best times, as the Saints placed 31st of the 46 competing teams. Just three Saints ran in the women’s race with two running PR times.

COLFORD, CAREY & ATKINSON HONORED BY GNAC

BOSTON, Mass. – Three Emmanuel College student-athletes were recognized this week by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference in the weekly reports. Sophomore Sean Colford (Eddping, N.H.) was named the Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week, freshman Maggie Carey (Swampscott, Mass.) was named the Women’s Soccer Rookie of the Week and freshman Kaitlyn Atkinson (Brookline, N.H.) was named the Women’s Volleyball Rookie of the Week.

GNAC CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONS!!!

STANDISH, Me. - BOTH, the Emmanuel Men's AND Women's Cross Country Teams, won Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championships on Saturday afternoon on the campus of Saint Joseph's College in Maine. The pair of championships mark Emmanuel's first-ever GNAC Cross Country team titles. The Saints' victory in the men's meet also marks Emmanuel's first-ever men's team championship in any sport. Further, this is the first time Emmanuel has EVER won multiple championships in a single season.

FOURTH RUNNER OF THE WEEK HONOR FOR COLFORD

BOSTON, Mass. – Sean Colford continues to rack up conference honors in his sophomore cross country season at Emmanuel. Colford was honored once again by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC), being named the GNAC Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for the fourth time this season.

WOMEN TAKE 3RD, MEN SNAG 4TH IN SAINTS CROSS COUNTRY INVITATIONAL

DORCHESTER, Mass. – Emmanuel College hosted the 8th running of the Saints Invitational on the historic cross country course at Franklin Park on Friday evening. Over 320 runners represented 18 colleges and universities, with 15 women’s teams competing in the 5k and 16 men’s teams in the 8k event. Wheaton College took team honors on the women’s side, placing four runners in the top five and scoring 25 total points. Babson College won the men’s race with the Beavers sealing up the first three positions and five of the top seven, as the team combined for 18 total points.

COLFORD RACES TO 3RD GNAC RUNNER OF THE WEEK HONOR

BOSTON, Mass. – Emmanuel College sophomore Sean Colford (Epping, N.H.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week, after leading the Saints squad to a first place team finish at the 11th Annual Saint Joseph’s College Runnin’ Monks Invitational. Colford claimed individual medalist honors by winning the men’s 8k race in a swift time of 28:05.

STANDISH, ME – Saint Joseph's College hosted the 11th Annual Runnin' Monks Invitational men's cross country 8K race on Saturday afternoon. Led by individual champion Sean Colford, Emmanuel College tallied 67 points to claim top team accolades.

SCHOAF HONORED WITH ECAC AWARD OF VALOR

FALMOUTH, Mass. – Emmanuel College sophomore Craig Schoaf was recognized last night at the 2013 Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Honors Dinner held at the Sea Crest Beach Hotel in North Falmouth, Massachusetts. Schoaf, a student-athlete on the Saints Cross Country and Track & Field Teams, received the ECAC Award of Valor for his courageous acts following the April 15th Boston Marathon bombings.

SAINTS GIVE BACK

ALLSTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel College Men’s and Women’s Cross Country and Track & Field Teams volunteered their time this past Sunday to work at the 10th Annual Brian J. Honan 5k road race. The Cross Country and Track student-athletes have consistently committed their time to working this annual event and were once again supremely instrumental in hosting a tremendous community road race in 2013.

SAINTS RUN 3RD AT POP CROWELL INVITATIONAL

WENHAM, Mass. – The Emmanuel Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Teams raced to third place team finishes on Saturday in Gordon College’s 42nd Annual Pop Crowell Invitational. With twenty competing teams in both the men’s and women’s races, the Saints’ 3rd place finishes landed Emmanuel behind just Georgia College and the University of New England, but ahead all other GNAC programs, including defending 2012 men’s champion Norwich University. The Saints’ 3rd place team finishes were huge improvements, as the Emmanuel men’s and women’s teams placed 10th and 14th, respectively, in this same meet last season.
