2012 CROSS COUNTRY SEASON IN REVIEW

The Emmanuel College Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Teams celebrated yet another successful season in 2012. The Emmanuel men’s squad raced to a second place team finish at the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship, while the women’s team took fourth place as a team. After his 12th season at the helm, Head Coach Tony DaRocha was once again named the GNAC Cross Country Coach of the Year, an honor he has now received five times while coaching the Saints.

SAINTS ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT HOSTS ANNUAL AWARDS NIGHT

The Emmanuel College Athletic Department hosted its Annual Awards Night and Dessert Reception last weekend, celebrating the Saints success during the 2012-2013 athletic seasons. Student-athletes, coaches, supportive families and fans filled the gymnasium of Emmanuel's Jean Yawkey Center on Saturday evening, April 27th, for the annual athletic recognition night. The event featured award presentations by the head coaches of each of Emmanuel's varsity programs and spirit teams, as well as major award presentations by Saints staff and administrators. Emmanuel's food service division, Bon Appetit, provided a delectable buffet of dessert selections for all of the attendees.

SAINTS FINISH STRONG AT NCAA CROSS COUNTRY REGIONAL

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Emmanuel College sent seven men and seven women to compete in the 2012 Division III New England Cross Country Regional on Saturday afternoon. The NCAA Regional Championship, which included powerhouse programs from across New England, was hosted by Westfield State University and held at Stanley Park on November 10th. The Emmanuel men finished 33rd out of 50 competing teams, while the Emmanuel women ran 38th out of 51 programs.

EMMANUEL MEN TAKE 2ND, WOMEN PLACE 4TH AT GNAC CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS

NASHUA, N.H. - The 18th running of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Cross Country Championships took place on the campus of Rivier University on Saturday, October 27th. For the third consecutive time, Johnson & Wales University captured the women's team championship. Norwich University claimed the men’s team title. The Emmanuel men placed second behind Norwich, while the Emmanuel women finished in fourth place.

EMMANUEL COACH WINS BAYSTATE MARATHON

Emmanuel College’s Assistant Cross Country and Track & Field Coach Bryan Mahoney raced to a win in the 24th Annual BayState Marathon on Sunday morning. The second year Assistant Coach for the Saints bested the field of nearly 1,200 runners with an amazing time of 2:35.29, finishing with his closest competitor more than two minutes behind him.

CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS COMPETE IN USATF RACE

The Emmanuel College Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Teams ran through some wet conditions on Sunday morning, competing in a USA Track & Field Development Race at Lars Anderson Park in Brookline. The men and women raced the 2.8 course together, home to Brookline High School’s cross country program. The Saints ran alongside the University of Massachusetts Lowell, Regis College and several unattached runners.

BUKOWIEC NAMED GNAC MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Emmanuel College freshman Max Bukowiec (York, Maine) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Men’s Cross Country Rookie of the Week, it was announced today by the conference office.

RAIN CAN'T SLOW SAINTS AT POP CROWELL INVITE

WENHAM, Mass. - The Emmanuel Cross Country Teams competed in a rainy Pop Crowell Invitational on Saturday morning. Despite the muddy conditions, the Saints faired very well and ran much faster times than in prior years at the same race. The Emmanuel men placed 10th as a team out of 25 competing programs, while the Emmanuel women ran 14th out of 27 teams.

SAINTS COMPETE AT 40TH ANNUAL SHRINERS INVITATIONAL

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The Emmanuel College Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Teams competed in the highly competitive Shriners Invitational Meet on Saturday, hosted by the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth. The Saints ran extremely well, competing against several of the nation’s top programs. The Emmanuel women finished 22nd overall, out of a 38-team field, while the Saints men ran their top average time and finished 23rd out of 39 competing teams.

TALLO NAMED GNAC CROSS COUNTRY ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Office of Communications announced its first weekly award winners for the 2012 season on Monday afternoon. Emmanuel freshman Thomas Tallo was among the first group of Fall honorees. Tallo, who was named the GNAC Men’s Cross Country Rookie of the Week, helped the Saints to two solid performances on consecutive weeks to kick off the 2012 season.

CALLAN, DELSIGNORE PACE SAINTS AT RWU INVITATIONAL

BRISTOL, R.I. - Senior captain Joslyn DelSignore (Taunton, Mass.) and junior Pat Callan (Pawling, N.Y.) paced the Emmanuel College Men’s and Women’s Cross Country teams for the second straight week Saturday, leading the Saints past Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC)defending champion Johnson & Wales University at the 2012 Roger Williams University Invitational at Colt State Park in Bristol, RI.

CROSS COUNTRY MEN AND WOMEN TAKE 2ND AT FENS CLASSIC

BOSTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel College Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Teams opened the 2012 season by hosting the 4th Annual Fens Classic, featuring a 2 mile course for the women and a 5k for the men through Boston’s historic Backbay Fens area and finishing on the track circling Roberto Clemente Field. The Roger Williams University Hawks took 1st place in both the women’s and the men’s races, while Emmanuel College and Wheaton College finished second and third, respectively, in each meet.

Fall Sports Participate in Team Blessing with Campus Ministry

Six fall sports teams participated in a Team Blessing Wednesday afternoon in the Jean Yawkey Center Gymnasium at a blessing ceremony hosted by Emmanuel College’s Campus Ministry.
