CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS COMPETE IN USATF RACE
The Emmanuel College Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Teams ran through some wet conditions on Sunday morning, competing in a USA Track & Field Development Race at Lars Anderson Park in Brookline. The men and women raced the 2.8 course together, home to Brookline High School’s cross country program. The Saints ran alongside the University of Massachusetts Lowell, Regis College and several unattached runners.
BROOKLINE, Mass. – The Emmanuel College Men's and Women's Cross Country Teams ran through some wet conditions on Sunday morning, competing in a USA Track & Field Development Race at Lars Anderson Park in Brookline. The men and women raced the 2.8 course together, home to Brookline High School's cross country program. The Saints ran alongside the University of Massachusetts Lowell, Regis College and several unattached runners.
Senior Abdi Ibrahim (East Boston, Mass.) led a good portion of the race, but was forced to drop out midway. Junior Chris Baker (Holden, Mass.) took individual honors for the Saints with his time of 16:12 and finished 5th overall. Classmates Michael Morris (Stoughton, Mass.), Nate Bruno (Lenox, Mass.) and Pat Callan (Pawling, N.Y.) finished in a pack behind Baker with times of 16:48, 16:50 and 17 minutes flat. Sophomore Christopher Connelly (Quincy, Mass.) was Emmanuel's fifth finisher and came in at 17:14.
A pair of freshmen were in the top five for the Emmanuel women. The top female runner for the Saints was junior Molly Metivier (Keene, N.H.) with her time of 20:23. Freshman Julie Roberts (Williamsburg, Mass.) came in at 20:42 and sophomore Chloe Egan (Burlington, Vt.) ran third for the Saints at 20:52. Freshman Janelle Winship (Prospect, Me.) and junior Danielle Martin (York, Me.) rounded out the top five with times of 21:05 and 21:18, respectively.
The Saints will take this coming weekend off, as Emmanuel gears up for the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday, October 27th. The two GNAC Championship races will be hosted by Rivier College in Nashua N.H., with the women's race at noon and the men's race at 12:45.
