HIGGINS NAMED GNAC & DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR; Negri, Clay & Davis Earn All-GNAC Honors

BOSTON, Mass. - Emmanuel College senior guard Sarah Higgins (Groveland, Mass.) was selected as the 2016 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, as voted upon by the league’s 12 head coaches. Higgins, a First Team All-Conference selection, averaged 14.5 points and 6.6 rebounds in 26.3 minutes per game for the Saints and led the GNAC with 3.4 steals per game. The Groveland, Mass. native helped guide Emmanuel to a share of the GNAC regular-season title and a runner-up finish in the GNAC title game.

SAINTS OVERPOWERED BY #14 WILDCATS IN GNAC SEMIS

PROVIDENCE, RI. – The Emmanuel College men's basketball team (10-17) hung tough with #14 Johnson & Wales (25-2), but wasn't able to to upset the Wildcats, who cleaned up a 97-79 win in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) semifinals last night.

SAINTS HEAD TO ANNA MARIA FOR GNAC QUARTERFINALS

BOSTON, Mass.—The fifth-seeded Emmanuel College men's basketball team has qualified for the second Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tournament quarterfinal in the last two years and will travel to Paxton, Mass. to battle fourth-seeded Anna Maria College at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

DAVIS LIFTS SAINTS TO GNAC QUARTERFINAL WIN OVER ANNA MARIA, 91-89

PAXTON, Mass.—Senior Kyle Davis (Groveland, Mass.) hit a floating layup off an inbounds play with 1.3 seconds remaining to push the fifth-seeded Emmanuel College men’s basketball team to a 91-89 win over the No. 4 AMCATS of Anna Maria in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Quarterfinal on Tuesday evening.

ALBERTUS MAGNUS SLIPS BY MEN'S HOOPS, 90-87

New Haven, Conn. – In his final home regular season contest, senior Marc Wilson (Jersey City, N.J.) scored a game-high 28 points to lead the Albertus Magnus College men's basketball team past visiting Emmanuel, 90-87, on Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at The Nest inside the Cosgrove Marcus Messer Athletic Center.

CAPTAIN CLAY LEADS THE WAY AS SAINTS UPSET LASELL

NEWTON, Mass. (2/16/16) – The visiting Saints of Emmanuel College powered to a 75-63 victory over Lasell College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men’s basketball action Tuesday evening in the Athletic Center. The loss drops the Lasers to 17-7 overall and 14-3 in the GNAC, while the Saints jump to 9-15 this season and break .500 in the league at 9-8.

MEN'S HOOPS PREVAIL OVER ANNA MARIA 80-79 IN WILD FINISH

BOSTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel College men’s basketball team nearly squandered a 14 points second half lead only to hang on for an 80-79 victory over Anna Maria College Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action at the Jean Yawkey Center. The Saints win their fourth straight and fifth consecutive GNAC tilt to improve to 8-15 overall and 8-8 in GNAC play while the loss dips the AMCats to 12-11 and 8-8 in conference.

SAINTS HOLD OFF LATE SURGE FOR 76-69 WIN OVER RIVIER

BOSTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel College men’s basketball team held on for a 76-69 Great Northeast Athletic Conference victory over Rivier University Saturday afternoon at the Jean Yawkey Center Gymnasium. The Saints, who led by as many as 17 in the first half, surrendered the lead midway through the second stanza only to come back and hold on for the win to improve to 6-15 overall and 6-8 in GNAC play. The loss drops the Raiders to 3-18 and 3-11 in the GNAC.

BOSTON, Mass. – Senior forward Rashad Dixon (Brockton, Mass.) scored 15 points to lead the Emmanuel College men’s basketball team past Saint Joseph’s College (ME), 73-61 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action on Wednesday evening at the Jean Yawkey Center Gymnasium. EC improves to 5-15 overall and 5-8 in GNAC play while the loss drops the Monks to 6-14 overall and 3-10 in the GNAC.

BOSTON, Mass. – Lasell College used a 96-85 victory over Emmanuel College to stay unbeaten in Great Northeast Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball action Saturday afternoon at the Jean Yawkey Center. The Lasers improve to 13-4 overall and a perfect 10-0 in GNAC play while the loss drops the Saints to 3-13 and 3-7 in the GNAC.

JWU SURGES PAST MEN'S BASKETBALL, 116-74

PROVIDENCE, RI – Every game the Johnson & Wales University men’s basketball team is going to play pressure defense, but when the Wildcats find their rhythm offensively they are hard to beat. JWU shot 53.3 percent from the floor as it rolled to a 116-74 victory over Emmanuel College on Monday, January 18.
