#23 WILDCATS RUN PAST SAINTS FOR 17TH STRAIGHT WIN

The Saints (3-14, 3-8 GNAC) were unable to slow down the Wildcats (17-1, 11-0 GNAC) who used a potent offense and and stellar defense to earn their 17th consecutive win.
Seniors Quarry Greenaway (Westchester, N.Y.) and Tom Garrick (Seekonk, Mass.) combined for 46 points, 19 rebounds, seven assists and four steals.
Emmanuel was able to battle in the early moments, keeping the deficit at ten points when sophomore Max Butterbrodt (North Andover, Mass.) hit two free throws to cut the JWU lead to 25-15 with 6:43 left in the first half. However, that was as close as they hosts would get, as the Wildcats led by 14 at the break and then opened the second half with 13 straight points to extend the lead to 53-26.
Greenaway knocked down eight field goals and nine free throws on his way to 25 points in 33 minutes. He also pulled down eight boards and added four assists.
Garrick poured in 21 points thanks to three three-pointers, and 4-5 from the charity stripe. He chipped in with 11 rebounds, three steals, three dimes, and three blocks.
The trio of Garrick, Greenaway and senior Clayton Roker (New City, N.Y.) outscored the Saints 56-54 and hit 19 field goals compared to EC's 18.
The bright spots for the Saints came in the form of sophomore Colin Cordero, and juniors Kyle Smith and Julian Diggs.
Cordero, the Bolton, Conn. native scored seven points along with five rebounds and three assists.
Smith (Los Angeles, Calif.) led the Saints offensively for the third time in four games, tallying 10 points and grabbing a pair of rebounds.
Diggs (Upper Marlboro, Md.) was steady off the bench for the Saints, providing six points, four boards, and a pair each of assists and steals.
Butterbrodt earned his first career start for the Saints and scored two points while pulling down four rebounds.
The Saints host Suffolk on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. as both teams look to put an end to extended losing streaks. The Wildcats will go for win #18 when the head to Paxton, Mass. to take on Anna Maria at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
