VOLLEYBALL TEAM BLANKS LEOPARDS, 3-0

BOSTON, Mass. - The 11th-ranked Emmanuel Men's Volleyball Team won its 8th-straight match, defeating the Leopards of Wentworth Institute of Technology, 3-0, in a non-conference match played at Wentworth on Thursday night. The Saints hit .363 as a team with 46 kills in 91 total swings en route to the straight-set victory. Emmanuel is now 23-7 on the season and 10-1 in GNAC play, heading into the final conference match of the season this Saturday.
Emmanuel posted a balanced offensive attack with ten different players accounting for kills in the match. Curtis Abram (San Luis Obispo, Calif.) led the way with 13 kills and 7 digs. Tyson Rietz (Granite Bay, Calif.) notched 7 kills, 8 digs and 5 aces in just two games played. Rookie Alex McKeen (Stoughton, Mass.) had another strong outing with 7 kills and 8 digs, while Keoni Rabaino (Tucson, Ariz.) banged down 6 kills in the win.
Junior middle Thomas McCaffrey (Massapequa, N.Y.) totaled 4 kills in 5 swings to go along with his 3 blocks. Classmate Sean O'Connor (Hampstead, N.H.) led the Emmanuel playmakers with a team-high 22 assists in two sets played.
The Saints will host Albertus Magnus College and Lesley University in a tri-match in the Jean Yawkey Center on Saturday afternoon. Emmanuel will open the day with the final GNAC match of the season vs. the AMC Falcons at noon. The Saints will then battle the Lesley Lynx at roughly 4pm.
