CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS EARN TOP-TEN FINISHES AT POP CROWELL INVITE

WENHAM, Mass. - The Emmanuel College Men's and Women's Cross Country Teams competed in the Annual Pop Crowell Invitational at Gordon College on Saturday afternoon. The Fighting Scots welcomed hundreds of runners and spectators to campus for the premier event of the Scots' regular season. The Saints fared well at the meet with both the Emmanuel men and women placing in the top ten out of the 20-plus teams in each field.
Senior Abdi Ibrahim (East Boston, Mass.) led the Emmanuel men, finishing 11th overall out of the field of 224 total runners. Ibrahim ran a 27:23 8k, a pace of 5:31 per mile, for his best finish this season. Sophomore Michael Morris (Stoughton, Mass.) ran second for the Saints and 48th overall with a time of 29:06. Following closely behind Morris were senior Stephen Armstrong (Revere, Mass.) and sophomore Nathan Bruno (Lenox, Mass.). The duo finished 52nd and 53rd with times of 29:13 and 29:19, respectively. Rounding out the top five for Emmanuel was freshman Brian Collins (Hull, Mass.), who ran 57th with a time of 29:39. The men's team combined for 197 points, finishing 9th overall.
On the women's side, freshman Ameena Dye (Syracuse, N.Y.) once again paced the Saints with a 3.05-mile time of 20:36. Dye ran 38th overall out of the field of 270 runners. Following Dye in was junior captain Joslyn DelSignore (Taunton, Mass.), who ran 46th with a time of 20:44. Rookie senior Katasi Kulubya (Anaheim, Calif.) was the third point scorer for the Saints with a 52nd place finish in a time of 20:55. Sophomores Molly Metivier (Keene, N.H.) and Danielle Martin (York, Me.) rounded out the top five scorers for Emmanuel with times of 21:42 and 22:16. The Emmanuel women placed 10th out of 26 teams with 282 points.
The Saints will take this weekend off, but will return to action on Friday, October 14th, when Emmanuel hosts the 7th Annual Saints Invitational. The meet will be held at Franklin Park with the women's race beginning at 4:00 PM and the men's race at 4:45 PM.
