GARVEY & RIDGE NAMED GNAC WOMEN'S SOCCER ALL-CONFERENCE
Nov. 8, 2011
BOSTON, Mass. - Emmanuel College Women's Soccer standouts, Lindsey Garvey (Warwick, R.I.) and Brittany Ridge (Portland, Maine), were named to the 2011 Great Northeast Athletic Conference All-Conference Team. The two were among the 33 total women's soccer players honored by the conference and both were selected to represent Emmanuel on the 2nd Team All-GNAC.
Garvey boasted a stellar sophomore campaign, notching a team-high 12 goals, while also dishing out an assist for 25 total points in 2011. The sophomore forward led the Saints in scoring, shots on goal (34) and game winning goals (5). Garvey was also ranked among the GNAC leaders in goals scored (5th), points (5th) and shots on goal (9th). During the season, Garvey was named to the GNAC's Weekly Honor Roll twice, including being honored on consecutive weeks (September 12th and September 19th).
Ridge, a starter in the midfield for the Saints, is receiving All-Conference honors for the second-straight year. The junior tri-captain was named GNAC 3rd Team All-Conference in 2010. Ridge anchored the Saints midfield this season, starting in all 19 of her games played. She scored one goal and dished out a team-high 5 assists for 7 total points this year.
Garvey and Ridge led the Saints to a 10-8-2 overall mark and a 6-6-1 GNAC record in 2011. Despite a disappointing end to the season in which Emmanuel did not compete in the GNAC post-season tournament, the duo will return in 2012 and look to bring the Saints back into contention for a conference title.
