14th-RANKED NIGHTHAWKS SNAP SAINTS' STREAK

BROOKLINE, Mass. - The Emmanuel Men's Volleyball Team suffered a tough 3-1 non-conference setback at the hands of Newbury College, which snapped the Saints' ten-match win streak. The 14th-ranked Nighthawks upset the 10th-ranked Saints, 30-21, 30-27, 30-32, 34-32, in the gymnasium of Hellenic College on Thursday night.
Emmanuel had three players notch double-figures in kills. The Saints' offense was led by Keoni Rabaino (Tucson, Ariz.), who hit .355 with 17 kills and 2 solo blocks. Junior outside hitter Curtis Abram (San Luis Obispo, Calif.) tallied 16 kills, 8 digs and 3 aces, while Tyson Rietz (Granite Bay, Calif.) slammed down 14 kills and picked up 6 digs. Senior Michael Townsend (Beaverdam, Va.) chipped in with 8 kills and 7 kills.
Senior setter Taylor Lowe (Malibu, Calif.) gathered a team-high 10 digs, while dishing out 28 assists. Freshman setter Nick Updike shared setting duties on the night and recorded 30 assists in the effort.
The Saints now stand at 25-8 on the season heading into this Saturday's Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) one-day tournament. Emmanuel finished up regular season conference play with an 11-1 mark. The Saints are seeded 2nd in the upcoming tournament, behind top-seeded Rivier College (25-8, 11-1 GNAC). The Raiders will host the tournament in Nashua, New Hampshire.
