Men's Volleyball Wins Two Over Lesley; 3-0, 3-0
MEDFORD, Mass. – The Emmanuel College men’s volleyball team picked up a pair of 3-0 wins over Lesley University in non-conference action Thursday evening at Medford High School. With the wins, the Saints improve to 8-9 on the year while the Lynx are still in search of a win, dropping to 0-9 overall.

MEDFORD, Mass. – The Emmanuel College men's volleyball team picked up a pair of 3-0 wins over Lesley University in non-conference action Thursday evening at Medford High School. With the wins, the Saints improve to 8-9 on the year while the Lynx are still in search of a win, dropping to 0-9 overall.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Saints enjoyed a strong offensive showing over the two matches, combining for 74 kills on the night compared to only 21 from the Lynx.
- In the opening match, Emmanuel posted a .298 team hitting percentage while hold the hosts to a .000 (12-12-73) clip.
- EC served up 11 aces in the opening 3-0 win and got a strong showing from sophomore Gary Randall (Essex Junction, Vt.) who led the way with 10 kills.
- In the second match, the Saints picked up their defensive intensity and held Lesley to a dismal -.200 (9-24-75) hitting percentage resulting in another 3-0 sweep.
- Senior setter/outside hitter Seamus McDonagh (Long Beach, N.Y.) collected a match-high nine kills in the win while first year middle hitter Josh McDonald (Smithtown, N.Y.) chipped in with seven kills.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- First year setter Roman Fabrizio (Salem, N.H.) collected 51 assists over the two wins while also notching five kills, five aces, five digs and four combined blocks.
- Sophomore Tyler Behsman (Derry, N.H.) paced the defensive effort combining for 23 digs while junior Austin Benoit (Springfield, Mass.) added 17 digs including a career-high 13 digs in the second match win.
- The Saints posted 15 aces in the second match, a season-high, including four from first year outside hitter Sean Oldread (Wilbraham, Mass.).
- AJ Genova and Jake den Bleyker combined for 16 kills over the two matches to lead the Lynx offensive effort.
UP NEXT
- Emmanuel returns to action next Friday, March 13 for two matches at the Johnson & Wales Wildcats Invitational, facing York College (NY) and North Park in Providence, R.I. at 4:00 and 6:00 PM.
- Lesley is back on the court this Saturday, March 7 when they travel to Elms College for a 5:00 PM NECC contest.
