GOLF COMPETES AT ELMS BLAZER INVITATIONAL

AMHERST, Mass. – The Emmanuel College men's golf team competed this past weekend at the Elms College Blazer Invitational at the Hickory Ridge Golf Club. The Saints finished seventh overall in the 10 team field as Endicott College captured the team crown with a two-day total of 618 (312/306). Endicott junior Athan Goulos (Peabody, Mass.) earned individual medalist honors firing a two-day total of 148 (76/72) to power the Gulls to the win.
The Saints had a strong showing during Day 1 of the Invitational as the top three players broke 80 on the scorecard. Freshman Jack Scavone (Auburn, Mass.) paced the effort with a team-low of 77 in his collegiate debut. Rookie Taylor Kieselback (Simsbury, Conn.) and junior Colin Cordero (Bolton, Conn.) each carded 79's during first-round play to help the Saints record a 332 for the opening day total. Junior Lucas Curtin (Pattersonville, N.Y.) rounded out the scores with a 97.
Day two conditionals at Hickory Ridge declined as the wind picked up and some scattered showers impacted players through the afternoon. The Saints team score on day two fell to 355 as Kieselback carded a team-low 82, followed by an 84 from Cordero. Scavone wasn't able to repeat his day-one magic, adding 10 strokes for an 87 while Curtis completed the team score with a 102.
The Saints return to action on Tuesday, September 20 when they head to Tekoa Country Club for the Westfield State University Invitational.
