Men's and Women's XC Take on Franklin Park in GNAC Championships
BOSTON – More Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championships are on the line tomorrow afternoon as men’s and women’s cross country teams compete for the GNAC Championships at Franklin Park. Cross Country is the latest sports to compete in the GNAC Championships after Men’s Golf and Women’s Tennis have already decided their conference champions, earlier this season.
BOSTON – More Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championships are on the line tomorrow afternoon as men's and women's cross country teams compete for the GNAC Championships at Franklin Park. Cross Country is the latest sport to compete in the GNAC Championships after Men's Golf and Women's Tennis have already decided their conference champions, earlier this season.
The women will take on the 6k course, starting at 2:15 p.m. while the men's race, an 8k, is scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m.
In the end-of-season GNAC Poll, the Saints were voted to finish 5th in both the men's and women's races, as voted on by the GNAC Cross Country Coaches. Colby-Sawyer took 1st place in each of the pre-race votes as the Chargers enter as the favorites according to the votes cast by the GNAC Coaches.
SAINTS TO WATCH FOR (Women's 6k)
- Junior Elizabeth Cameron (Raynham, Mass.) has been running some of her best races over the last month for Emmanuel. In her last three races, Cameron has finishes of 6th, 9th, and 6th, including a 6k time of 26:00.6 on the same course being run for the GNAC Championship.
- Senior Hannah Fitzpatrick (Revere, Mass.) has been steady all season for the Saints, recording top-25 finishes in each of her last four races. Two weeks ago in the Suffolk Invite, Fitzpatrick placed 10th on the Franklin Park 6k course with a time of 26:30.3.
- Sophomore Emma Krantz (Manchester, N.H.) has four races with the Saints this season, including a PR in the 6k of 26:40.2. In those four races for Emmanuel, Krantz has three top-25 finishes.
SAINTS TO WATCH FOR (Men's 8k)
- First-year runner Patrick Hill (Barrington, N.H.) came out on fire this season, improving his final positioning in every race this season, with his most recent finish being a 10th place mark at the Suffolk Invite. He ran the Franklin Park 8k that afternoon in 29:25.0.
- Senior Joey Reed (Rehoboth, Mass.) produced a 26th place finish at the Suffolk Invite, ran on the Franklin Park 8k course. His time of 31:57.1 was his second-best 8k time of the season.
- Sophomore Jorge Zapata (Parkland, Fla.) is a consistent performer for Emmanuel this season, never finishing lower than 30th place in his last four races, including a 27th place finish on the Franklin Park 8k course in the Suffolk Invite.

The GNAC All-Conference and All-Sportsmanship teams will be announced following the race on Saturday afternoon.
