WOMEN'S XC WINS RUNNIN' MONKS INVITE; MEN FINISH 2ND
STANDISH, Maine – The Emmanuel College women’s cross country team placed first overall while the men’s team finished second at the 2018 Runnin' Monks Invitational hosted by Saint Joseph's College on the men's 8K and the women's 5K SJC Cross Country Courses on Saturday afternoon.

THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:
With the top two runners and four in the top 14 overall, Emmanuel College topped the women's field with 53 points, 25 ahead of runner-up University of Southern Maine.
Emmanuel sophomore Pearl Vercruysse (Oak Bluffs, Mass.) led the 98-runner field with a 20:21 time while her teammate, freshman Hannah Fitzpatrick (Revere, Mass.) finished second with a 20:35 performance.
FOR THE SAINTS:
- Sophomore Pearl Vercruysse (Oak Bluffs, Mass.) paced EC with a 20:21 time and finished 1st overall
- Freshman Hannah Fitzpatrick (Revere, Mass.) posted a 20:35 effort and placed 3rd
- Senior Reilly Boyle (Wells, Maine) was 13th with a 21:46 performance
- Junior Allie Gorrill (Whitefield, Maine) placed 15th (21:52)
- Sophomore Stephanie Forester (East Walpole, Mass. rounded out the top five finishing 25th (22:23)
THE RUNDOWN – MEN:
With all five scoring runners in the top 12 overall, Colby-Sawyer College cruised to the men's title with 32 points, well ahead of runner-up Emmanuel College, which capped the day with 66 points.
Colby-Sawyer junior Peter Bakker (Barkhamsted, Conn.) claimed the individual crown after touring the 8K course in 27:52 minutes, nearly 20 seconds in front of Thomas College junior Jarrod Ottman (Merrimack, N.H.), who finished second with a 28:11 performance.
FOR THE SAINTS:
- Junior Erik Brobst (Freeport, Maine) finished 4th with a 28:51 time
- Junior Patrick Carty (Sweden, Maine) placed 6th with a 29:02 effort
- Sophomore Trevor Hajj (Gilmanton, N.H.) posted a 30:03 time and finished 14th
- Sophomore Matthew Cronin (Coventry, R.I.) was 20th (31:18)
- Senior Jefferson Zannoni (Merrimack, N.H.) rounded out the Saints top 5 finishing 24th (31:42)

Emmanuel will compete in the Suffolk Invitational next Friday, October 12 on familiar ground at the Franklin Park course in Boston, Mass.
