SAINTS COMPETE AT UMASS DARTMOUTH INVITATIONAL
The Emmanuel College cross country teams traveled to UMass Dartmouth on Saturday morning for the UMass Dartmouth Invitational, where Saints the men’s team came in 28th place out of 41, and the women’s team finished in 24th place out of 45. Southern New Hampshire University’s men’s team landed on top of the field of 41, where Brandeis University won the day for the women’s side.

THE LEAD: The Emmanuel College cross country teams traveled to UMass Dartmouth on Saturday morning for the UMass Dartmouth Invitational, where Saints the men's team came in 28th place out of 41, and the women's team finished in 24th place out of 32. Southern New Hampshire University's men's team landed on top of the field of 41, where Brandeis University won the day for the women's side.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Southern New Hampshire claimed three of the top seven individual spots to take top team honors at the 46th Annual UMass Dartmouth Men's Cross Country Invitational on the Robert Dowd Course Saturday morning, as the Penmen topped WPI by 13 points (74-87) in the 16th running of the Buddy Harris Men's Championship Race.
- Senior Emily Bryson's winning time of 17:54.59 propelled Brandeis to the team title at the 46th Annual UMass Dartmouth Women's Cross Country Invitational, as the Judges topped runner-up Trinity and third place Merrimack in the event.
- Emmanuel's freshman Hannah Fitzpatrick (Revere, Mass.) crossed the finish line in the front of the Saints pack, with a time of 20:37.60m with senior Reilly Boyle (Wells, Maine) right behind her with a finish of 20:55.68.
- On the men's side, junior Patrick Carty (Sweden, Maine) of Emmanuel finished the course in 27:39.38, while classmate Erik Brobst (Freeport, Maine) finished soon after with a time of 28:08.64.
- Trinity (105) bested Merrimack by two points for second place in the final team standings, while WPI (127) and Wellesley (225) rounded out the top five.
UP NEXT
- The Saints will be competing at the Codfish Bowl at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. on Saturday, September 22nd. The women will begin the race at 12:30pm and the men will begin at 1:05pm.
