CROSS COUNTRY COMPETES IN 48TH ANNUAL CODFISH BOWL AT FRANKLIN PARK
BOSTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel College men’s and women’s cross country team competed this weekend at the 48th Annual Codfish Bowl at the historic Franklin Park course. The men’s team enjoyed a solid showing finishing sixth overall in a 16 team field while the women’s squad placed 10th out of 17 team competing.

The men's team enjoyed a solid showing finishing sixth overall in a 16 team field while the women's squad placed 10th out of 17 team competing.
UMass Dartmouth claimed the men's team crown with Ryan O'Connell (unattached) picking up the individual win with a time of 25:40 in the 8k race while Merrimack raced to the women's team title with Samantha Valentine from Phillips Andover taking home the individual with a time of 18:26.
On the men's side, the Saints had three runners finish in the top 20 to help secure a sixth place finish as senior captain Ian Chamenko (Beacons Falls, Conn.) finished 11th overall with a time of 27:20 for a new PR. The freshman duo of Erik Brobst (Freeport, Maine) and Patrick Carty (Sweden, Maine) finished 18th and 19th as Brobst crossed the finish line at 27:38 followed by Carty's time of 27:44. Freshman Philip Malm (Worcester, Mass.) was the next Emmanuel finisher in 89th overall with a time of 30:28 followed by sophomore Jeferson Zannoni (Merrimack, N.H.) in 97th place at 30:47.
Junior Nicole Varca (Wethersfield, Conn.) paced the women's team with a 35th place finish as the top Emmanuel runner with at time of 20:30. Sophomore Mimi Duncan (Portsmouth, N.H.) was next to finish for the Saints in 80th place, crossing the finish line in 21:48 followed by newcomer Jordyn Gonsor (Springfield, Mass.) with a time of 21:54 in 82nd place. Freshman Allie Gorrill (Whitefield, Maine) was not far behind with an 86th place finish at 21:59 and sophomore Rachael Nazzaro (Amesbury, Mass.) rounded out the EC top five in 96th with a time of 22:18.
This was the first of three races for the Saints at Franklin Park as they'll return on Friday, October 14th when they host the 11th Annual Saints Invitational followed by the GNAC Championships on Saturday, October 29th. Emmanuel is idle until the host the Saints Invite in two weeks.
