Parker Invited to NEWVA Senior Classic
Nov. 7, 2008
Emmanuel's Lindsey Parker was recently invited to play in the New England Women's Volleyball Association's (NEWVA) Senior Classic. The top thirty-two senior Division III women's volleyball players from New England colleges and universities were selected to compete in the 2008 NEWVA Senior Classic at Wellesley College on Sunday, November 16th. Parker is just the second player from Emmanuel College to be invited to the NEWVA Senior Classic.
The annual event features the area's top seniors competing in various competitions leading up to the afternoon's all-star match, which is scheduled to begin at 12:30pm. Players were selected by a vote of all participating member head coaches, following the nomination process.
The thirty-two players selected hail from 15 different states and the United Kingdom and represent 19 collegiate institutions from five separate conferences. Established nearly 25 years ago, the New England Women's Volleyball Assocation is open to all collegiate institutions in New England sponsoring Division III women's volleyball. NEWVA membership has grown to 60 members in 2008, representing eight different conferences.
Parker recently led Emmanuel to the semifinals of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament. During her senior year, she averaged 3.02 kills and 1.53 digs per set. She will graduate from Emmanuel as the women's volleyball program's all-time leader in kills with 1,353 in her collegiate career.
