STANTON EARNS SECOND-TEAM, ALL-GNAC HONORS; OLSEN TABBED TO THIRD-TEAM
Nov. 5, 2010
BOSTON, Mass. - Three players on the Emmanuel College women's volleyball team were recently recognized for their efforts during the 2010 season.
Junior's Rebecca Stanton (Quincy, Mass.) and Kathryne Olsen (Fairhaven, Mass.) were each named to a GNAC all-conference team for the second straight season, with Stanton landing on the second team and Olsen on the third.
Sophomore outside hitter Clare Bucci (Tarrytown, N.Y.) was also named to the league's sportsmanship team.
Stanton played in all but two sets for the Saints this season, finishing first on the team in blocks with a career-high 108 for the season. She was also second on the team in kills with 279 and hitting percentage with .339.
Olsen was a league standout as a setter this year, topping the GNAC in assists per game with 7.69 while tallying a career-high 823. She also led the squad in hitting percentage with .400 while notching 23 service aces, 243 digs and 31 blocks.
Olsen also made headlines this season when she tallied her 2,000th career assist in a home match against Simmons on Oct. 19. If all remains consistent with her play, she will look to break the school record for helpers next season.
