Student-Athlete of the Week
Oct. 31, 2011
Emmanuel's Student-Athlete of the Week is Women's Volleyball Player, Jenna Ross. The Centerburg, Ohio native has been a four-year starter as an outside hitter for the Saints. Recently, Ross was honored by two of Emmanuel's affiliate conferences, as she was named both the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week and the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Player of the Week for the New England region.
Ross' honors came after the senior captain helped the Saints to a late season nine-match winning streak. During the stretch, Ross became the Emmanuel program's all-time leader in digs, surpassing the mark of 1,431 set by Amanda Machado back in 2008. Ross is currently averaging 3.54 digs per set, as well as 3.00 kills per set. As the team enters post-season play, Ross is currently just 17 kills shy of 1,000 for her collegiate career. If Ross were to reach the 1,000-kill milestone during the Saints' GNAC Tournament run, she would become the program's first player to acquire "grand club" status in both kills and digs.
Ross and the Saints just finished up regular-season play with an overall record of 20-14. The Saints earned the \#3 seed in the upcoming Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament. Emmanuel will be making its 13th-straight appearance in the GNAC Tournament. The Saints will host 6th-seeded Saint Joseph's College on Tuesday night, November 1st, at 7:00 PM.
