ROSS NAMED GNAC WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK AGAIN

BOSTON, MASS. - Emmanuel College women's volleyball player Jenna Ross (Centerburg, Ohio) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Player of the Week for her play during the week of October 16-22, it was announced by the conference office yesterday evening. This marks the second time this season and third time the senior has been honored as the GNAC's top player, also receiving the honor for her play during the week of Oct. 4, 2011 as well as during the week of October. 5, 2009.
Last week, Ross helped lead the Saints to a perfect 4-0 mark while also making some history. During Emmanuel's 3-1 victory over Simmons, Ross collected the 1,432nd dig of her career to become the program's all-time leader in digs. She finished the week with 46 digs and now has 1,466 and counting. On top of this career milestone, Ross was stellar offensively, slamming home 44 digs while hitting an efficient .354 from the field. The Centerburg, Ohio native would also add three blocks, two assists and two aces over the four Emmanuel victories.
On the season, Ross has been one of the Saints go-to offensive players averaging 2.94 kills per set to rank second on the squad and fifth in the GNAC. The outside hitter has also been an integral part of Emmanuel's defensive scheme, getting down for 343 digs which ranks second among teammates. Along with those numbers, Ross has chipped in with 31 service aces, 16 total blocks and nine assists on the year.
During her four campaigns with the Saints, Ross has established herself as one of the most productive all-around players in the programs history. On top of becoming the all-time digs leader, the senior currently ranks fifth all-time in kills with 944 to her name. Her 165 aces also ranks among Emmanuel's all-time leaders and over her career, the outside hitter has helped the program compile a total of 71 wins and four berths to the GNAC tournament.
After a slow start to the 2011 campaign, the Saints are in the midst of a seven-match winning streak and currently boast an 18-13 record overall to go along with a 9-2 GNAC mark. They return to action on Thursday, October 27 when they host Wheaton College in non-conference play during their annual `Dig Pink' match to raise awareness about breast cancer in which all proceeds raised will be donated to the Side-Out Foundation.
