BOSTON, Mass. - Emmanuel College junior Kathryne Olsen reached an incredible milestone on October 19th in a GNAC Women's Volleyball match with local rival Simmons College.
The 5'6" setter from Fairhaven, Massachusetts tallied her 2,000th career assist for the Saints volleyball team. Olsen achieved the milestone in the opening set of the match, as she entered the contest just four assists shy of 2,000 for her collegiate career.
Olsen, who is dishing out 7.34 assists per set, currently leads the conference in play-making. En route to her latest milestone, She recorded 611 assists as a freshman, 805 as a sophomore, and 602 with several matches left to play as a junior.
Olsen was a second-team GNAC All-Conference selection last year. She is just the third player in Emmanuel program history to tally 2,000 career assists.
Currently, Olsen stands as one of the primary offensive players for the Saints this season. She has appeared in 82 of the team's 85 sets played while standing at fourth on the team in kills with 77 and fifth in service aces with 16. She is also fourth on the team in blocks with 23 and fifth in digs with 189.
Olsen and the Saints will compete again this weekend, as Emmanuel takes on Albertus Magnus College and Saint Joseph's College (ME) in a GNAC tri-match on Saturday afternoon. The Saints are vying for home-court advantage in the upcoming GNAC Tournament.
