WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL FALLS TO JWU, 3-1 IN SEMIFINALS

Providence, R.I. - The top-seeded Johnson & Wales women's volleyball team posted a 3-1 win (25-19, 20-25, 25-19, 25-23) against fifth seeded Emmanuel in the semifinals of the 2010 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship at the Harborside RAC on Thursday evening.
Senior Catherine Bravo (Toa Baja, Puerto Rico) paced Johnson & Wales with a triple-double, recording 10 kills, 15 set assists and 12 digs. She also added three service aces and three blocks for the Wildcats. Senior Nikki Balchunas (Brockton, Mass.) added a double-double with 11 kills and 10 digs while junior Audrey Warren (Haverhill, Mass.) had 11 kills and seven digs in the victory for JWU.
Junior Jenna Ross (Centerburg, Ohio) led the way for Emmanuel with 11 kills and five digs while fellow junior Kathryne Olsen (Fairhaven, Mass.) had 33 set assists in the loss for the Saints.
With the win, JWU improves to 23-12 overall while Emmanuel is now 18-14 for the year. The Wildcats will return to action on Saturday, November 6th when they host the winner of the Emerson vs. Rivier contest in the GNAC Championship, starting at 1:00 p.m. The winner receives the conference's automatic bid to the 2010 NCAA Division III Championship.
