SAINTS IMPROVE TO 7-1 IN GNAC WITH TRI-MATCH SWEEP

Chestnut Hill, MA - The Emmanuel College Volleyball Team picked up two more Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) wins on Saturday afternoon. The Saints defeated Mount Ida College and Pine Manor College in a GNAC tri-match played in Chestnut Hill. Emmanuel knocked off both teams in four sets.
In the opening match, the Saints defeated Mount Ida, 25-22, 21-25, 25-16, 25-16. Senior outside hitter Lindsey Parke (New Bedford, MA) recorded a double-double with 11 kills and 12 digs. Senior libero Amanda Machado (Swansea, MA) gathered a match-high 25 digs. Junior middle blocker Nicole McAllister (Hampden, ME) notched 8 kills and a team-high 5 blocks in the win.
Emmanuel's freshman playmaker Kathryn Olsen (Fairhaven, MA) continues to run the Saints' offense, dishing out 7.69 assists per set. The rookie tallied 32 in Emmanuel's win over the Mustangs and 31 in the Pine Manor victory. The Saints posted a 3-1 win over host Pine Manor College in the 3rd match of the day, 28-26, 17-25, 25-13, 25-12.
Parker and freshman hitter Rebecca Stanton (Quincy, MA) slammed down 13 kills apiece in the win. Machado totaled another 23 digs, while sophomore Megan Clary (Cumberland, RI) added 13 digs in the win. Freshman outside hitter Jenna Ross (Centerburg, OH) chipped in with 5 kills and 15 digs in the win.
With these two conference wins, the Saints improved to 7-1 in GNAC play and 11-11 overall. Emmanuel will host Johnson & Wales University in a GNAC rivalry on Tuesday night (10/21) at 7pm in the Jean Yawkey Center. The Wildcats enter the match undefeated in the conference. An Emmanuel win on Tuesday will put the Saints in a three-way tie for first place in the GNAC.
