SAINTS TOP RAMS TO REMAIN UNDEFEATED IN GNAC

BOSTON, Mass. - Sophomore outside hitter Rebecca Stanton (Quincy, Mass.) hit .407 with 12 kills to lead the Emmanuel Women's Volleyball Team to its tenth-straight win. The Saints topped the host Rams of Suffolk University, 3-1, in a cross-town Great Northeast Athletic Conference match-up on Tuesday night. The win for Emmanuel stretched the Saints' win streak to 10 matches, as they improved to 12-4 overall and 7-0 in GNAC play. Suffolk dropped to 5-12 on the season and 2-5 in the league with the loss.
The Saints took an easy 25-9 win in the opening set. Set two went to the hosts by a two-point spread, 25-23. Emmanuel edged Suffolk in the next two, winning, 25-21 and 26-24.
Stanton was one of two players hitting in double figures for the Saints. Sophomore and one of this week's GNAC tri-Players of the Week Jenna Ross (Centerburg, Ohio) recorded another double-double with 13 kills and 13 digs, to go along with her 3 aces. Freshman Samantha Andazola (Queen Creek, Ariz.) led the Saints' backrow with 23 digs, while totaling 4 aces in the win.
Senior middle Nicole McAllister (Hampden, Me.) chipped in with 9 kills and a team-high 5 blocks for Emmanuel. Saints' setter Kathryne Olsen (Fairhaven, Mass.) dished out 31 assists, while freshman Yun-Ting Lee (Cambridge, Mass.) and junior Megan Murray (Killingworth, Conn.) combined for 15 digs in the effort for Emmanuel.
For Suffolk, senior Kelsey Armstrong-Hann (Corvallis, OR) had a team-high 11 kills, including six in the Rams' game two victory, and eight digs on the evening. Sophomore Melissa Griffin (Byfield, Mass.) had nine kills, one service ace and five digs. Junior Kelly Loder (Billerica, MA) tallied eight kills on the night to go along with two solo and three assisted blocks.
The Saints will return to action at home this Thursday night. Emmanuel will host the Lynx of Lesley University in a non-conference match played in the Jean Yawkey Center at 7pm. The Rams will be back in action on Thursday as they travel to Salem State College for a non-conference match at 6:00pm.
