Women's Volleyball Bounces Salem State, 3-0, in First Win of 2022 Campaign
NORTON, Mass. - Emmanuel College served up 16 service aces while holding Salem State to a negative hitting percentage en route to their first win of 2022, posting a 3-0 final score Saturday afternoon in non-conference women’s volleyball action at Wheaton College (MA).

THE LEAD: Emmanuel College served up 16 service aces while holding Salem State to a negative hitting percentage en route to their first win of 2022, posting a 3-0 final score Saturday afternoon in non-conference women's volleyball action at Wheaton College (MA).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- EC scored the first four points of the match to take an early lead but the Vikings pushed ahead 12-10 midway through the opening frame. After trading points to a 16-16 score, Emmanuel took the lead for good on an ace by senior Rachel Coleman (Peabody, Mass.) to propel the Saints to the 25-18 opening set win.
- The sides flipped leads early all the way to an 8-8 score in set two before Emmanuel rattled off seven straight points behind the service game of Seana Phillips (Middleboro, Mass.) to take control at 14-8.
- The Saints kept the service game strong in the final set, pushing points to a 25-15 win for the non-conference sweep.
- Eva Haralabatos paced Salem State with 15 assists and four digs over the three sets with Gracie Dailey leading all Salem State players with five kills. Kailey Roche led the Vikings with six digs.
- Coleman and Brigid Moriarty (Westfield, Mass.) combined for 22 assists and seven aces in the win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- The Saints held SSU to a -.014 hitting percentage while hitting at a .214 clip at their own net.
- There was only 2.0 combined blocks during the entire match, both courtesy of the EC front line.
