Boston, MA - Freshman duo Kelly Brinkman (Gardiner, NY) and Brandey Rodriguez (Lawrence, MA) led the Framingham State Rams to a three set sweep (27-25, 25-19, 25-15) of the Emmanuel College Saints with a combined total of 22 kills in Thursday evening’s non-conference match on the Andy Yosinoff Court.

THE LEAD: Freshman duo Kelly Brinkman (Gardiner, NY) and Brandey Rodriguez (Lawrence, MA) led the Framingham State Rams to a three set sweep (27-25, 25-19, 25-15) of the Emmanuel College Saints with a combined total of 22 kills in Thursday evening's non-conference match on the Andy Yosinoff Court.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Saints jumped to an early lead and controlled most of the first set until a late rally by the Rams to win the set 27-25.
- In the second set, Emmanuel and Framingham played point to point for the first half before a set of errors by Emmanuel launched a six point scoring rally by the Rams, led by a great defensive effort by Victoria Anderson (Attleboro, MA) en route to a 25-19 win to take a 2-0 lead in the action.
- Framingham State came out hot in the third match, holding off the efforts of EC outside hitter Marissa Cataldo (Melrose, MA) and never looked back at the Saints as they commanded the third set to a 25-15 victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Anderson, Fay and Fish of Framingham State all posted double-digit digs, combining for a total of 38 digs.
- Emmanuel sophomore outside hitter Cataldo led Emmanuel with a team-high 18 kills.
- Rodriguez led the Rams with a .421 hitting percentage on 10 kills.
- The Rams junior setter Mackenzie Whalen (Norton, MA) ran the Framingham offense with 32 assists.
- The Rams finishing the night hitting .243 as a team compared to .101 from Emmanuel.
