OWLS SOAR PAST SAINTS IN WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL ACTION, 3-0

KEENE, N.H.--Senior Rachel Lamic had 14 kills without an error and hit .438 for the night as the Keene State College volleyball team ended a two match losing skid with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-15, 25-16) win over Emmanuel College (Mass.) on Wednesday night at Spaulding Gym.

How it Happened

Lamica, who was named the Little East Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the fourth time this season earlier in the week, added a trio of service aces, seven digs, and a pair of solo blocks to her stat line.  Niamh Dodd had eight kills, two solo blocks, and two block assists, while Megan Palmer had nine kills.  Bailey Wilsonhad 36 assists, two service aces, and nine digs, while Riley Bunker had 17 digs and Kait West had 12.

Keene State jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first set and never looked back, expanding the lead to 10-1 on a kill by Lamica and 17-6 on an Emmanuel error.  A kill from Dodd made it 20-9, and Lamica's block on Grace Neider made it 23-10.  Another kill from Lamica brought the Owls to set point, and Jennifer Severino delivered the set win with another kill.

Back-to-back kills from Lamica and Palmer gave KSC an early 7-3 lead in the second set, which grew to 11-5 on a mistake by the Saints.  Severino blocked Molly Michaud to give the Owls a 17-11 advantage, and the Saints would not recover, as the Owls closed out the set on an 8-4 run punctuated by a kill from Palmer.

Keene State again took a 7-3 lead in the third set, but allowed Emmanuel to go on a 8-4 run that gave the Saints an 11-9 lead.  The Saints maintained a two point advantage at 13-11 before Keene State reeled off seven straight points to take an 18-13 lead, and never looked back, getting to match point on a kill by Palmer before Olivia Mathieu's kill ended the set.

Service Aces

• The Owls are one win again from matching their win total from the whole of the 2016 season.
• The Owls improved to 5-0 at home, and 8-2 against schools from the state of Massachusetts.
• Keene State had eight service aces on the night, giving them 130 for the year.  The Owls are hitting .239 as a team, which ranks 22nd nationally.

• Keene State remains at home to host a tri-match with Western Connecticut State University and Worcester Polytechnic Institute on Saturday, October 7 at 12 and 4 p.m., respectively.
• The Saints travel to MIT tomorrow at 6 p.m.
