BOSTON, Mass.—The Emmanuel College women's volleyball team was recognized by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) with the Team Academic award earlier this week. EC was one of 381 programs recognized nationally among Division I, II and III institutions and one of just 140 Division III schools honored. This marks the second consecutive season Emmanuel has been on the AVCA list for academic excellence.
The AVCA Team Academic Award honors teams that have posted a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or higher on a 4.0 scale. The Saints were one of just three Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) teams to be recognized this year, the other schools being Johnson & Wales University (RI) and Simmons College.
Emmanuel posted a 12-16 record in 2015, advancing to the GNAC Semifinals as the No. 4 seed.
The Saints open their 2016 season on Friday, September 2 at the Rowan University Labor Day Invitational against Muhlenberg at 6:00 PM.
