TUTALO, DUDLEY & ATKINSON NAMED TO GNAC ALL-CONFERENCE SQUAD
BOSTON, Mass. – Senior middle hitter Brittany Tutalo (Johnston, R.I.), junior middle hitter Kaitlyn Atkinson (Brookline, N.H.) and senior setter Shannon Dudley have been named to the 2015 Great Northeast Athletic Conference women’s volleyball All-Conference team, it was announced earlier today by the conference office. Tutalo earned Second Team honors while Atkinson & Dudley garner Third Team accolades.
BOSTON, Mass. – Senior middle hitter Brittany Tutalo (Johnston, R.I.), junior middle hitter Kaitlyn Atkinson (Brookline, N.H.) and senior setter Shannon Dudley have been named to the 2015 Great Northeast Athletic Conference women's volleyball All-Conference team, it was announced earlier today by the conference office. Tutalo earned Second Team honors while Atkinson & Dudley garner Third Team accolades.
Tutalo earns All-Conference honors for the first time in her career coming off a strong final season with the Saints in which she recorded 144 kills while hitting a team-best .262 from the floor, which also ranked eighth in the GNAC. The Rhode Island native led the Saints with 70 total blocks, averaging 0.74 blocks per set to rank seventh in the GNAC. Tutalo was even better in GNAC matches, leading the conference with a 1.00 blocks per set average while also ranking first overall in total blocks in GNAC contests with 36.
Over her career, Tutalo registered 661 kills and a .239 attacking percentage. The middle hitter will go down as one of the best blockers of all-time, finishing with 271 total blocks to rank fifth all-time while her 179 block assists rank second all-time.
Atkinson makes her third straight appearance on a GNAC All-Conference squad with her Third Team honors after earning GNAC Second Teams honors each of her first two years. The middle hitter slammed home 125 kills and was also a force at the net with 66 total blocks. Atkinson led the team averaging 0.83 blocks per set while ranking fourth overall in the GNAC.
Atkinson has accumulated 681 kills and 223 total blocks in her three seasons with Emmanuel. She currently ranks seventh all-time in total blocks while her 121 solo blocks rank sixth all-time.
Dudley also makes her third consecutive appearance on the GNAC All-Conference team serving as the Saints floor general in 2015. Despite missing the first month of the season due to a surgery, the setter dished out a total of 377 helpers to rank eighth in the GNAC while also collecting 116 digs. The senior dished out double-figure assist totals in all 15 matches she appeared in including a season-high of 42 assists in a 3-1 victory over Lasell College on Oct. 10.
In her four years with Emmanuel, Dudley recorded 2,375 assists to go along with 941 digs. She will graduate ranking third all-time in assists and eighth all-time in digs.
Emmanuel College senior outside hitter Danielle Rose (Wilkes-Barre, Pa.) was also recognized by the conference earning GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team honors.
The Saints finished the 2015 season with a 12-16 overall record which included an 8-3 mark in GNAC action. Despite earning the No. 1 spot in the Pre-season Coaches' Poll, the Saints earned the No. 4 seed in the 2015 GNAC Tournament only to fall in the GNAC Semifinals to No. 1 Rivier University, 3-0.
