SAINTS STRUGGLE, LOSE TWICE AT JWU TRI-MATCH
BOSTON, Mass. - The Emmanuel College Women's Volleyball team suffered its first two conference losses of the year at a tri-match at Johnson and Wales on Saturday afternoon. The Saints dropped their first match of the day, 3-1 (15-25, 22-25, 26-24, 19-25), to conference leaders Johnson and Wales and then lost to Saint Joseph's College (ME), 3-0 (20-25, 20-25, 20-25) to end the afternoon in Providence.

BOSTON, Mass. - The Emmanuel College Women's Volleyball team suffered its first two conference losses of the year at a tri-match at Johnson and Wales on Saturday afternoon. The Saints dropped their first match of the day, 3-1 (15-25, 22-25, 26-24, 19-25), to conference leaders Johnson and Wales and then lost to Saint Joseph's College (ME), 3-0 (20-25, 20-25, 20-25) to end the afternoon in Providence.
The losses drop the previously unbeaten Saints to 4-2 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) and 6-14 overall. The Wildcats won both matches on their home court to improve to 7-0 in the GNAC and 16-5 overall, while the Monks saw their record go to 6-2 in the conference and 21-4 overall.
Cumulatively, the Saints tallied 70 combined kills in the two matches, with junior Kaitlyn Atkinson (Brookline, N.H.) leading the way with 18. Senior captain Brittany Tutalo (Johnston, R.I.) chipped in with 11 kills, two service aces, seven digs, and four total blocks. Fellow senior captain Shannon Dudley (Morro Bay, Calif.) picked up 52 assists to run her career total to 2182, just 57 short of third place on Emmanuel's all-time list.
The Wildcats started Senior Day in style, winning three of four sets against the visiting Saints. Freshman Nastasia Kapustin (West Nyack, N.Y.) led all players with 19 kills while registering three block assists. Senior Paula Cadavid (Pawtucket, R.I.) registered 13 kills with 18 digs and freshman Emily Kalmink (Byron Center, Mich.) rounded out the Wildcats in double digits with ten kills. Senior Kellen Tensen (New Canaan, Conn.) collected 44 set assists in the opener.
The Monks were able to control the pace of play from start to finish against Emmanuel, posting a .233 attack percentage in the sweep. Junior outside hitter Victoria Huntley (Ellsworth, Maine) paced the Royal Blue with 14 kills and 17 digs while senior middle blocker Felicia Wachowiak (Milton, N.H.) produced 13 kills on 23 attempts for a spectacular .522 kill rate.
The Saints will head across Brookline Ave. to take on the Simmons Sharks on Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m.
