SAINTS SWEEP ALBERTUS MAGNUS TRI-MATCH
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Emmanuel College women’s volleyball team continued to roll with two more victories on Saturday afternoon, defeating City College of New York (3-0) and Albertus Magnus College (3-0). With the wins, the Saints improve to 14-9 overall and the conference win over Albertus keeps the Saints perfect at 3-0 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action.

With the wins, the Saints improve to 14-9 overall and the conference win over Albertus keeps the Saints perfect at 3-0 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action.
In the opening match vs. CCNY, EC grabbed the momentum early with a hard fought 28-26 win in set one before cruising to a 25-17 win in set two. The Saints completed the sweep with a 25-19 win in set three for their 13th win of the season.
Sophomore middle hitter Kaitlyn Atkinson (Brookline, N.H.) topped EC with 13 kills while the trio of Sarah Colby (West Barnstable, Mass.), Cassie Chruscielski (Duluth, Minn.) and Brittany Tutalo (Johnston, R.I.) each chipped in with seven kills each. Sophomore setter Sophie Fish (North Attleboro, Mass.) dished out a match-high 36 assists while senior defensive specialist Christine Durkee (Conn.) led the defensive front with 21 digs.
Against Albertus Magnus, Emmanuel was in total control, allowing the Falcons to score just 28 total points over the three sets while hitting an impressive .303 clip offensively. The Saints held Albertus to single digits in the first and second sets, winning the fames 25-8 and 25-9, respectively before taking the final set 25-11.
Junior outside hitter Danielle Rose (Wilkes Barre, Pa.) recorded a match-high seven kills while Atkinson chipped in with six winners. Junior setter Shannon Dudley (Morro Bay, Calif.) dished out 23 helpers to go along with 10 digs and six aces. Durkee added a game-high 11 digs in the win.
Emmanuel returns to action on Thursday, October 9 when they host Lesley University at 7:00 PM.
