ATKINSON CAPTURES SECOND ROOKIE OF THE WEEK NOD
BOSTON, Mass. – Kaitlyn Atkinson (Brookline, N.H.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week for the second time this season. The freshman’s most recent honor came after leading the Emmanuel Women’s Volleyball Team to a 2-1 week, which included a pair of three-set wins in a conference tri-match in Northfield, Vermont last Saturday.

The freshman's most recent honor came after leading the Emmanuel Women's Volleyball Team to a 2-1 week, which included a pair of three-set wins in a conference tri-match in Northfield, Vermont last Saturday.
Atkinson tallied 7 kills and a block in the Saints' lone loss of the week, a 3-0 setback at Roger Williams University. She then hit .526, with a match-high 11 kills, to go along with her 2 blocks in Emmanuel's sweep of Norwich University. In the Saints' final match on Saturday, Emmanuel topped Saint Joseph's College, 3-0, backed by Atkinson's 8 kills, .316 hitting percentage and 2 blocks.
The freshman middle hitter also received this honor two weeks ago on October 7th after leading Emmanuel to an undefeated week. Atkinson and her classmate Cassie Chruscielski (Duluth, Minn.) have combined for four conference Rookie of the Week honors this season.
Atkinson and the Saints are currently in a tie for first place in the GNAC standings, tied with Rivier College at 8-0 in conference action. The Saints will be back in action tomorrow night (10/22), when they travel across the street to Simmons College for 7:00PM start with the Sharks. Emmanuel will return home on Saturday, when the Saints host Rivier University and University of Saint Joseph in a GNAC tri-match set to begin at noon.
