SAINTS WIN 2ND-STRAIGHT 9-0 MATCH

BOSTON, Mass. - The Emmanuel Women's Team shut out its opponent for the second-straight match on Sunday afternoon. The Saints carried their momentum from a 9-0 win over Pine Manor College on Thursday into today's non-conference match. Sunday's match, played at the Winsor School courts, featured the Saints topping Lesley University, 9-0. With the win, Emmanuel is now 4-1 overall and remains undefeated at 1-0 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.
Emmanuel swept the six singles matches, holding all of the Lynx to three points or less per set. Freshman Taylor Dey (Woodbridge, Conn.), who remains undefeated in collegiate play (4-0), knocked off her opponent at 1st singles, 6-1, 6-1. Senior captain Nory Hayes (Newport, R.I.) defeated her 2nd singles opponent, 6-2, 6-1. Junior Megan Harrington (Leicester, Mass.) won at 3rd singles, 6-1, 6-3. Freshman Jenna Reid (Lincoln, R.I.), a nominee for GNAC Rookie of the Week, won at 4th singles, 6-1, 6-1, to remain undefeated in her first collegiate season (4-0). Juniors Alexandra Shakra (Bedford, N.H.) and Catherine Dunphy (Duxbury, Mass.) shut out their opponents 6-0, 6-0 at 5th and 6th singles, respectively.
Dey teamed up with Hayes for an 8-0 win at first doubles. Harrington and Dunphy combined for an 8-2 win at second doubles. Finally, junior Brianna Murphy (Wilbraham, Mass.) paired up with freshman Emily Resnevic (Manville, R.I.) for an 8-2 win at third doubles.
Emmanuel returns to Great Northeast Athletic Conference play on Tuesday (9/22), when the Saints travel to Mount Ida College to take on the Mustangs in a 2pm start.
