Emmanuel College sophomore Alex Hadlock (Framingham, Mass.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the week ending on October 13th. This is Hadlock's fifth GNAC weekly honor and her second time named the conference's Player of the Week this season.
Hadlock, who plays in Emmanuel's top position for both singles and doubles, went undefeated in her matches last week, leading the Saints to a 3-0 week. The sophomore standout won all three of her singles matches in straight sets, topping the No. 1 players from Johnson & Wales University, University of Saint Joseph and Anna Maria College. She also teamed up with junior Amanda Woznicki (Bristol, Conn.) for two doubles wins, bringing her record last week to 5-0.
Hadlock's five wins in a six-day span improved her overall record this season to 15-7 with a 6-4 mark in GNAC matches. Hadlock's individual singles record currently stands at 9-3.
With Emmanuel now 9-6 on the season and 5-2 in the GNAC, the Saints have clinched the #3 seed for the upcoming GNAC Tournament. After Emmanuel's non-conference match tonight versus Lesley University, the Saints will play host to the 6th-seeded AMcats of Anna Maria College in the GNAC Tournament Quarterfinals on Wednesday evening.
