LLOID NAMED GNAC SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK
March 20, 2012
Emmanuel College junior Kelly Lloid was honored by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference this week by being named the GNAC Softball Pitcher of the Week. The conference office announced the honor on Monday, March 19th. This is Lloid's second time being honored by the GNAC, as she was named to the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll once as a rookie.
Last Saturday, Lloid led the Saints to a 3-0 shutout in the opening game of a non-conference double-header at Wentworth Institute of Technology. The junior pitcher went the full seven innings in the circle for the Saints, giving up just three hits and shutting out the host Leopards. Lloid struck out five of her 24 batters faced. She retired 10-straight batters and 11 of the final 12 to close out the shutout win for the Saints.
Lloid is Emmanuel's top pitcher and currently possesses a 2-4 record this season. She holds a 2.03 earned run average and has struck out 17 batters thus far in 2012. Lloid is a two-time team Most Valuable Player for the Saints.
Lloid and the Saints will be back in action again this Thursday, March 22nd, when Emmanuel hosts its home opener. The Saints will take on the Amcats of Anna Maria College in a GNAC double-header slated to begin at 6:30pm.
