SAINTS KNOT UP EAGLES IN SOFTBALL NIGHTCAP

Nashua, NH - The Emmanuel College Softball Team traveled to southern New Hampshire on Monday to take on Daniel Webster College in a GNAC double-header. The Saints were looking to pick up their first win of the season, taking on the 5-10 Eagles.
Daniel Webster's freshman Lauren Coppola (Norwich, CT) tossed a five-hit shutout striking out five and walking one and fellow rookie Tiana Winter (New Ispwich, NH) went 3-for-4 with two doubles and scored three times to lead the hosts to their first-ever program victory over Emmanuel. The Saints fell, 8-0, in the opener game at Eagle Field.
The Eagles improved to 3-4 in the GNAC with the victory, reaching their highest season win total since the 1999 season and their highest number of conference victories since 2002.
In the opener, Coppola extended her scoreless streak to 11 innings over two complete game victories as she improved to 3-3 overall. Erin Moseley (Sterling, MA) helped the Eagle cause going 2 for 3 knocking in two, while Stephanie Zubricki (Brookline, NH) added a 2-for-3 game with a double and two RBI.
Emmanuel's senior pitcher Stephanie Rege (Chicopee, MA) took the early loss for the Saints. In the nightcap, Emmanuel rallied from an 8-2 deficit with three runs in the top of the fifth and sixth innings to forge an 8-8 tie, before the game was suspended at the end of the sixth due to darkness. If necessary, the second game may be completed at a later date starting with the top of the seventh inning.
Sophomore Sarah Palmer-Thompson (Dennis, MA) led Emmanuel with three hits, while classmate Chelsea Baldwin (Canonsburg, PA) ripped a two-run triple in the fifth and senior third-baseman Jennifer Walsh (Westfield, MA) followed with a two-run triple in the sixth to lead the Saints' comeback.
Emmanuel is back in action on Wednesday afternoon, taking on Colleges of the Fenway rival, Simmons College, at 3:30pm. This double-header will be played on St. Peter's Field in Cambridge, MA.
