Chelak's Bat Heats Up to Clinch GNAC Player of the Week Nod
WINTHROP, Mass. - Saints junior Taylor Chelak (Westborough, Mass.) was an offensive force this past week, helping the Saints to a 5-1 record over six games while being named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week, as announced by the GNAC Office on Monday afternoon.

Chelak batted .556, including four multi-hit games this past week for Emmanuel. She hit in five straight, starting with a two-hit game in a non-conference victory over Wheaton on Tuesday (April 16). She followed that by going 5-for-6 in a GNAC doubleheader against Regis on Saturday (April 20). She had a home run in each game against the Pride and recorded six RBI. She also scored three times. Chelak concluded the week with another GNAC doubleheader sweep against Norwich during which she went 3-for-5 with four RBI and two more runs scored. In all, she scored five times and drove in 10 for the week.
Monday's nomination as the GNAC Player of the Week is Chelak's first of her career as the junior center fielder leads the Saints with 34 hits and 29 runs scored while she ranks second on the team in batting average at .374 and RBI at 22.
The final week of the regular season and deciding games in the GNAC North come this week for the Saints, starting with a Wednesday, April 24, doubleheader at Simmons. Emmanuel then travels to Saint Joseph's on Saturday and New England College on Sunday to finish up the regular season.
