Emmanuel 13, Regis 0
The first three Saints batters of the day reached base to load the bases in the first inning of game one. A base hit from Abigail Farr (Windsor Locks, Conn.) posted the first Emmanuel run of the contest. Later in the inning, Emma Crisafulli (Loudonville, N.Y.) drove a deep ball over the centerfield fence for a three-run home run, making the lead 5-0.
With the score still 5-0 as the two sides headed into the bottom of the third, it was Farr who got the Saints offense going again with another base hit to start the inning. Mia Fernandes' (Taunton, Mass.) single and Christyna Winstead's (Uncasville, Conn.) double pushed the Emmanuel lead to nine.
Taylor Chelak capped off the third inning offensive explosion with a three-run blast for her first home run of the season. The Saints went on to add another run in the bottom of the fourth inning and take game one 13-0 in five innings.
Madison Marks (Edgewater Park, N.J.) was lights out in the circle for the Saints, going all five innings and surrendering just one hit for a shutout victory. Taylor Chelak finished game one with two hits and four RBI, including her home run. Abigail Farr and Sammy Hayes (Braintree, Mass.) chipped in two hits apiece in the win. Chloe Beland (Southborough, Mass.) posted the Pride's lone hit of the matchup, breaking up Marks' no-hitter with two outs in the fifth inning.
Emmanuel 11, Regis 2
The Saints got off to another hot start in the second game of the day. It was Chelak, again, who put the home team on the board early with a first inning two-run home run over the left-centerfield fence. Emmanuel went on to tally six first inning runs, opening up a significant advantage in the early moments of the contest.
Emmanuel tacked on a seventh run in the bottom of the third inning through a Winstead double and an eighth run an inning later through a bases loaded walk from MeKayla Poisson (Peabody, Mass.).
Regis looked to close the gap in the top of the fifth inning. An outfield drive from Bianca Burke (Cambridge, Mass.) led to a Saints defensive miscue that plated two Pride runs on the play and cut the Saints lead to 8-2.
Looking to secure a run-rule victory, the home side needed two runs to put the game to bed. Singles from Rebecca Markie (West Hartford, Conn.) and Alexis Martineau (Merrimack, N.H.) put two runners on for Olivia Conti (Cranston, R.I.). Conti stepped up to the plate and blasted a game-ending three-run shot for her sixth home run of the season. The deep ball completed the Saturday sweep with an 11-2 (F/5) Saints victory in game two.
Conti led the Saints offense, going 2/3 with three RBI to go along with her home run. Chelak finished game two 3/4 with two RBI, also including a home run. Mackenzie Briggs (West Warwick, R.I.) earned the win in the circle with 5.0 IP and just four hits allowed. Chloe Beland went 1/2 with a run scored in the loss for the Pride.
Up next, Regis will return home tomorrow (4/21) for a GNAC doubleheader with Mitchell scheduled to begin at 2:00 P.M. The Saints will be back at Clemente Field for more GNAC action tomorrow with a doubleheader against Norwich beginning at 12:00 P.M. Prior to the start of tomorrow's second game, the Saints will honor seniors Emma Crisafulli and Olivia Conti for their contributions to the program over the last four seasons.
