Martineau's Offensive Output Nets First Career GNAC Rookie of the Week Honor
WINTHROP, Mass. - Saints first-year Alexis Martineau (Merrimack, N.H.) had one of her best weeks as a Saint, batting .429 over six games, resulting in the rookie outfielder being named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week, as announced by the GNAC Office on April 15.
WINTHROP, Mass. - Saints first-year Alexis Martineau (Merrimack, N.H.) had one of her best weeks as a Saint, batting .429 over six games, resulting in the rookie outfielder being named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week, as announced by the GNAC Office on April 15.
Martineau finished the week batting 9-for-21 with one double and five RBI, helping the Saints to a 4-2 week of games. Over that stretch, Martineau increased her batting average by 61 points, going from .286 at the start of last week to .347 following Sunday's doubleheader sweep over Elms.
Now batting .347, Martineau leads the Saints in batting average, among players with at least 15 at-bats. In addition, her 17 base hits and 14 RBI lead Emmanuel among all first-year teammates.
The Saints sit at 11-11 (5-1 GNAC) this season and are set for six more games this week, starting on Tuesday, April 16, with a doubleheader at Wheaton. The Saints head back into GNAC play on the weekend, hosting Regis for two games on Saturday, April 20, at 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., before wrapping up the busy week on Sunday, April 21, welcoming Norwich to Clemente Field for games at 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. and a celebration of the Saints Class of 2024 on Senior Day.
