Softball Takes Game Two in Doubleheader vs. FSU, 8-4
FRAMINGHAM, Mass. - The Framingham State University softball took game one by a score of 6-0 before falling to Emmanuel College 8-4 in game two in a non-conference doubleheader at Maple Street Field.

THE LEAD - The Emmanuel College softball team took game two by a score of 8-4 after falling to Framingham State University 8-4 in game one in a non-conference doubleheader at Maple Street Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED - Game 1
- In the opener, the Rams got on the board first in the bottom of the third inning when the Rams capitalized on a Saints error to plate a run.
- The Rams extended the lead with three in the fourth on an RBI single from Makayla Rooney and a two run single off the bat of Camille Desrochers.
- The Rams capped the scoring in the game with two in the top of the sixth on a sacrifice fly from Gwendolyn Carpenter and and RBI single from Talia Duca.
- Ally Moran earned the victory in the circle going seven shutout innings allowing just three hits with five strikeouts and no walks.
- EC senior outfielder Julyanne Pacheco (Somerset, Mass.) collected two of the hits while junior Emma Crisafulli (Loudonville, N.Y.) was the only other Saints to notch a hit.
- Desrochers finished the game with three hits and two RBI, while Rooney recorded a pair of hits and scored a pair of runs.
HOW IT HAPPENED - Game 2
- In game two, the Saints opened up a 5-0 lead with three runs in the first and two in the second. First year third baseman Christyna Winstead (Uncasville, Conn.) got the scoring started with a two-RBI double to left in the first before EC added an unearned run later in the frame to start off with a 3-0 cushion through one.
- In the second, sophomore outfielder Taylor Chelak (Westborough, Mass.) made it 4-0 with an RBI double and came around to score another unearned run to account for the 5-0 advantage after two.
- The Rams got on the board with two in the bottom of the third on a two run hit from Duca closing the gap to 5-2.
- Emmanuel plated three more in the top of the fifth pushing the lead to 8-2. Sophomore cather Samantha Hayes (Braintree, Mass.), sophomore infielder Amanda Penney (Warwick, R.I.) and senior infielder Maegan Amsler (Hanover, Mass.) all picked up RBI's in the frame.
- The Rams received a two run homer from Keeley Scotia in the bottom of the sixth to reach the final score.
- First year Mackenzie Briggs (West Warwick, R.I.) earned the win to move to 5-1 on the year.
- Duca finished game two with a hits and two RBI, while Kelsey McGuill finished the game with two hits including a double.
- Rylynn Witek took the loss going two innings allowing five runs, one earned, on three hits with three strikeouts.

- Emmanuel hosts Norwich University on Friday, April 7 at 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM in GNAC action at Roberto Clemente Field.
- The Rams are back in action the same day when they host Bridgewater State for a pair of games beginning at 2:00 PM.
