HOW IT HAPPENED
- Trailing 3-2 entering the sixth, the Saints plated five runs to take the lead for good en route to their first win of the season. Senior Renae Lacroix (Cumberland, R.I.) opened the inning off with a single to left and advanced to third on a double to center by Conti. Junior centerfield Julyanne Pacheco (Somerset, Mass.) delivered a clutch single to right to plate both runners and give Emmanuel the lead for good at 4-3. First year Madison Marks kept the hit party alive with a double to center to plate Pacheco and make it 5-3. Senior first basemen Grace Orcutt (Lexington, Mass.) made it 7-3 with an RBI single through the left side.
- Ohio Northern loaded the bases in the bottom half of the sixth to put the tying run at the plate but EC junior Tianna Dawe (Peabody, Mass.) came on in relief to retire the side to preserve the 7-3 lead.
- Emmanuel blew the game open with three runs in the seventh. Conti belted a one-out homer and EC added two more runs to account for the 10-3 final.
- The Polar Bears jumped out to a 3-0 lead scoring a run in the first, second and third inning to take the early lead.
- The Saints answered with a pair in the fourth as Conti led off the frame with a double and moved over to third on a sac bunt by Pacheco. Senior second basemen Kiana Hinson (Whittier, Calif.) drove Conti in with an RBI fielder's choice to get the Saints on the board and later came around to score on a Polar Bear error to move the score to 3-2.
