SAINTS LOSE TWO HEARTBREAKERS AGAINST ST. JOSEPH CT
WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - Freshman Michelle Woodruff (Southington, Conn.) slapped a pinch-hit, two-out, two-RBI walk-off single to centerfield with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh inning to stun the visiting Emmanuel College Saints, 4-3, in the second game of a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at USJ.

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - Freshman Michelle Woodruff (Southington, Conn.) slapped a pinch-hit, two-out, two-RBI walk-off single to centerfield with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh inning to stun the visiting Emmanuel College Saints, 4-3, in the second game of a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at USJ.
The Blue Jays plated three runs with a huge two-out rally in their last at-bat to complete the comeback in game two of the day. The Saints were able to plate three runs as junior Olivia Burgos singled to score Briana Ong from second base in the top of the third and junior Ashley Skey homered to center field to plate herself and Casey Sheehan. Olivia Burgos recorded the loss on the day, pitching 6.2 innings, allowing 12 hits, three walks, three strikeouts and only one earned run.
St. Joseph's was able to complete the sweep Emmanuel after blanking the Saints in the opener, 1-0, where sophomore hurler Amaria Sharon(Tolland, Conn.) tossed a complete game, four-hit shutout with five strikeouts. Megan Kieselback for the Saints finished the day with the loss, hurling 6 innings while only allowing six hits, one walk, three strike outs and no earned runs. With the sweep, USJ improves to 8-6 overall on the season and starts 2-0 in GNAC play while Emmanuel slips to 8-9 overall and 3-3 in the league.
