SAINTS WHEEL; KIESELBACK DEALS IN 20-0 WIN OVER ROSEMONT
CLERMONT, Fla. - The Emmanuel College softball team erupted for 17 runs in the second inning and junior pitcher Megan Kieselback tossed a complete-game shutout in a 20-0 victory over Rosemont College in five innings on Sunday evening at Hancock Park in Day 1 action of the 2018 NTC Spring Games. Emmanuel improves to 1-0 while the Ravens start the slate 0-1.

THE LEAD: The Emmanuel College softball team erupted for 17 runs in the second inning and junior pitcher Megan Kieselback tossed a complete-game shutout in a 20-0 victory over Rosemont College in five innings on Sunday evening at Hancock Park in Day 1 action of the 2018 NTC Spring Games. Emmanuel improves to 1-0 while the Ravens start the slate 0-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Following a scoreless first inning, the Saints put up a program-record 17 runs in the second inning to coast the rest of the evening.
- During the second inning, Emmanuel sent 21 batters to the plate collecting 15 hits as junior shortstop Audrey Esakoff (Ventura, Calif.), junior centerfield Olivia Burgos (Newington, Conn.), junior catcher Casey Sheehan (Medway, Mass.), junior pitcher Megan Kieselback (Wethersfield, Conn.) and junior right fielder Briana Ong (Coventry, R.I.) all registered multiple hits in the inning.
- Sophomore second baseman Sarah Hoisl (West Hartford, Conn.) belted the Saints first home run of the season with an infield homer down the right field line to drive in two runs in the inning.
- Kieselback made the lead stand up with a dominant performance in the circle, throwing a complete-game shutout with 10 strikeouts, allowing just one hit and no walks for her first win of the season.
- The Ravens lone hit came on an infield single in the third inning by sophomore Kaileigh Whalen (Magnolia, N.J.).
- Kieselback retired seven in a row to end the game including striking out the side in the fifth inning.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Burgos and Sheehan finished the game with three hits and two runs each. Burgos added three RBI while Sheehan drove in a pair.
- Several Saints made their collegiate debut in style as Esakoff, freshman designated player Kaitlin Bouchard (South Portland, Maine) and freshman left fielder Megan Long (Smithfield, R.I.) all collected two hits, and combined to score five runs and drive in four RBI.
- Freshman Emily Blanchard (Sturbridge, Mass.) and Mikaela Montemagni (Chicopee, Mass.) also collected their first collegiate hits in the win.
- The victory was the first collegiate head coaching win for Emmanuel's Olivia Berry who improves to 1-0 at the helm.

- The Saints return to action tomorrow evening when they take on Catholic University at 4:30 PM in Day two action of the NTC Spring Games.
- Rosemont is idle until Tuesday, March 6 when they take on Nebraska Wesleyan University at 4:30 PM.
