NEWTON, Mass. – The Mount Ida College softball program has added Julia Levins as the newest assistant coach for the 2016 season, it was announced by the Mustangs Athletic Department on July 30, 2015.
A former nemesis of the Mustangs, Levins is one of the most decorated players to come out of Emmanuel College, where she received a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Business Management, Economics and Organizational Leadership in 2014 and capped off a four-year softball career.
Levins graduated as Emmanuel's all-time leader in hits, games played, starts, walks, and runs scored. She held a career batting average of .304, knocked 130 base hits and scored 79 runs while also stealing 46 bases.
During her collegiate career, Levins played every position on the diamond, including pitcher, and she tossed a no-hitter in her sophomore season. She earned team MVP and Unsung Hero honors, and served as team captain in both her junior and senior years.
A two time Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Academic All-Conference winner, Levins was also named a 2014 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America Scholar Athlete.
Levins hails from Uxbridge, MA and currently resides in Quincy. She also works in pharmaceutical advertising for Havas Health in Downtown Crossing.
The Mount Ida College softball team is coming off of a return trip to the GNAC postseason, their second under head coach Katie Zuman, who will be entering her ninth season at the helm.
