DI NUCCI, RIDGE NAMED TO ALL-GNAC WOMEN'S SOCCER TEAM
Nov. 8, 2010
Following a 10 and 11 record this season, an upset victory in the conference tournament and a trip to the GNAC semifinals, two Emmanuel Women’s Soccer players were named to the GNAC All-Conference Team. The team was selected after the regular season concluded and voting was conducted by all of the conference coaches. Emmanuel’s senior midfielder Amber Di Nucci (New Bedford, Mass.) was named to the 1st Team and sophomore midfielder Brittany Ridge (Portland, Me.) was named to the 3rd Team.
Di Nucci received 1st Team honors for the fourth-straight year. The senior began her career at Emmanuel by being named the conference’s Rookie of the Year in 2007. She then was named 1st Team All-GNAC as a sophomore, junior and senior. Di Nucci netted her 50th career goal this season and is just the second Emmanuel player to reach the 50-goal milestone. Di Nucci will graduate in May as the program’s 2nd all-time leading scorer and Emmanuel’s all-time leader in assists with 42. She was the Saints’ second leading scorer this season with 7 goals, including 3 game-winners, while also dishing out 3 assists.
This was Ridge’s first all-conference recognition. The sophomore was named to the 3rd Team All-GNAC. Ridge started in all 21 games this season and was the Saints’ 4th leading scorer and 3rd leading play-maker. She scored 5 goals and dished out 4 assists for 14 total points. Ridge helped to anchor the Emmanuel midfield this season and two of her 5 goals were game-winners for the Saints.
Senior forward Kelsey Fitzpatrick (Milford, Mass.) was also honored by being named to the conference’s All-Sportsmanship Team. The GNAC recognizes one member of each of the conference’s 13 teams for displaying the best sportsmanship throughout the season. Fitzpatrick represented Emmanuel on the GNAC’s All-Sportsmanship squad.
