Baker Claims Second Goalie of the Week Honor with Two-Win Performance
WINTHROP, Mass. – Saints sophomore goalie Gaby Baker (Grafton, Mass.) earned another pair of victories in net for Emmanuel this past week and has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Goalie of the Week, in Week 8 of the Conference’s Report.
WINTHROP, Mass. – Saints sophomore goalie Gaby Baker (Grafton, Mass.) earned another pair of victories in net for Emmanuel this past week and has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Goalie of the Week, in Week 8 of the Conference's Report.
Baker started the week with a 2-1 victory over the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) on Oct. 18 and followed that performance with a shutout victory over Mitchell on Oct. 21. Baker enters the final match of the regular season in second in the GNAC in goals against average (0.56) and save percentage (.862).
Over the full season, Baker is 14-2-0 overall, matching the most wins by a goalie in a single season in program history. As it stands, the sophomore netminder's .862 save percentage is fourth-best in team history while the 0.56 GAA is second-lowest.
The Saints have locked up the No. 2 seed for the GNAC Postseason and finish off the regular-season tonight, Oct. 23, hosting Rivier at 7:00 p.m. The team will open up their playoff run on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 1:00 p.m., hosting a team to be determined later.
