Four Different Saints Score in 4-1 Victory Over Pilgrims
BOSTON – Emmanuel College women’s soccer topped New England College, 4-1, Saturday afternoon at Clemente Field in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play. With the victory, the Saints recorded their eighth-straight win and improve to a perfect 7-0-0 in the conference.

The Saints and Pilgrims battled throughout the first half, but both teams remained scoreless through the first 45 minutes of play. Many scoring opportunities arose for Emmanuel, taking eight shots, including three attempts from junior Kaelyn Briscoe (Walpole, Mass.) and two from sophomore Sarah Dullaghan (Belmont, Mass.). The Saints held New England College to no shots in the first half.
The game ramped up significantly in the second half, when all five goals were scored. The Saints were first to get on the scoreboard, with sophomore Maya Daryanani (Raynham, Mass.) burying a ball from sophomore Annebel Balogh de Galantha (Grafton, Mass.) into the back of the net in the 49th minute. New England College was quick to respond to the goal, as junior Shelby McBain (Indianhead, Md.) scored in the 52nd minute off a pass from junior Isabella MacGregor (Ottawa, Ont.).
It was the Saints' game from then on out. Dullaghan sent a header to the back of the net for her sixth goal of the season in the 54th minute of play, with Balogh de Galantha recording her second assist of the day. Briscoe netted a goal, her second of the season, off a ball from senior defender Melissa Mauro (Old Lyme, Conn.). The fourth goal for the Saints came in the final minute of play on a header from first-year Ciara Horan (Braintree, Mass.) off a corner kick from Alexandra Gencarelli (Bradford, R.I.).
Sophomore goalkeeper Gaby Baker (Grafton, Mass.) gave up just one goal in the match, advancing to 7-1 on the season so far with the victory.
The Saints head on the road for a non-conference matchup against Nichols College on Oct. 2 at 4:00 p.m., rescheduled from Sept. 18. The Pilgrims continue GNAC away-game play to face Norwich University at 7:00 p.m. on Oct. 4.
