Second Half Tally Leads Women's Soccer to 1-0 Win at Albertus Magnus

The Falcons and the Saints came out of the gate with high and intense energy. Both teams found opportunities to score in the first half, however, Emmanuel held a 9-4 advantage in shots.Albertus found its best offensive opportunity at the 35:31 minute mark when Sophia Vescera (Prospect, Conn.) dribbled inside to drill a shot that ricocheted off the crossbar and the post, but it did not cross over the line. The first half ended scoreless.
Emmanuel did not let off the gas in the second half, eventually earning a penalty kick at the 73:09 minute mark. The score was kept even as sophomore Maya Daryanani (Raynham, Mass.) played it down the middle and into the arms of Falcons sophomore goalie Amy Stevens (Lincoln, R.I.).
The Saints converted on a scoring opportunity during their ninth corner kick of the match. Sophomore Liz McCormick (Cumberland, R.I.) sailed a corner kick into the danger zone filled with Emmanuel and Albertus players. The ball bobbled between players before connecting with the foot of Miley to score at the 75:38 mark.
The Falcons continued to attempt to equalize the score in the final minutes, finding another opportunity from Victoria Jainchill (Simsbury, Conn.) who just narrowly missed the goal over the crossbar with under eight minutes remaining.
