BOSTON – Saints sophomore goalkeeper Gaby Baker (Grafton, Mass.) helped Emmanuel women's soccer to its first Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory of the season and has earned the GNAC Goalie of the Week honors for Week 2 of the conference report, as announced on Monday afternoon.
In the only official game of the week for Emmanuel, Baker and the Saints shutout Regis on Wednesday, Sept. 6, in a 2-0 victory for EC. The second-year keeper made three stops in the victory, improving to 2-1 (1-0 GNAC) in the process.
The Saints Sept. 9 afternoon kick against Norwich was suspended nearly 30 minutes into the match after lightning in the area of Clemente Field made playing conditions too dangerous. The home side Saints led 2-0 at the moment of the suspension. The make-up date for the resumption of play has yet to be announced.
Emmanuel heads back out to the field for a pair of matches this week, starting tomorrow, Sept. 12, with a crucial GNAC showdown at Albertus Magnus at 6:00 p.m. The Saints then head back to Clemente Field on Saturday, Sept. 16 for a noon match in the GNAC with Anna Maria.
