THE LEAD: Emmanuel College erupted tor seven second half goals en route to a 10-0 lopsided victory over the MCLA Women's Soccer team. The Saints used a balanced attack that featured seven different goal scorers and 13 different players earning at least a point.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Junior Addie LeGault (Farmington, Conn.) led the way scoring twice while teammate first year Liz McCormick (Cumberland, R.I.) had a pair of assists.
- Senior Catherine Manning (Peabody, Mass.), junior Sophie Patterson (Scituate, Mass.), and first years Sarah Dullaghan (Belmont, Mass.), Annebel Balogh de Galantha (Grafton, Mass.) and Sydney Sears (Jericho, Vt.) all netted their first collegiate goals in the victory.
- Emmanuel first year goalkeeper Patricia Kirejczyk (Astonia, Conn.) earned the victory having to make just one save. MCLA 's Jill Currier (Troy, N.Y.) made 13 save on the day but falls to 0-2 on the young season.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Emmanuel improves to 2-0 to open a season for the first time since 2014.
- The 10 goals scored was the most in a game by the Saints since a nine-goal outing back on October 26, 2019 in a 9-1 GNAC victory over Anna Maria.
- The two-goal game was the fifth multi-goal contest of LeGault's career.
- Kirejczyk is the first rookie goalie to win her first two collegiate starts in net with the Saints since Alyssa Crugnale in 2019.
